Ticino Solare in Canobbio-Trevano,was the first solar power plant connected to the grid in Europe back in 1982 in Canobbio. It is home to the Department of Environment, Constructions and Design of SUPSI until 2021. Source: SUPSI.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Ticino Solare (TISO) photovoltaic installation. To celebrate the occasion, SUPSI released an ad hoc publication titled “Photovoltaics: made to last. The 40 years of the TISO PV plant” featuring numerous personalities from the world of photovoltaics; it was an opportunity to retrace the history of the TISO, taking a look at the past, the present and above all the future of photovoltaic technology.

The book is fresh off the press and was presented last week in Milan at the 8th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-8).

The publication was overseen by Mauro Caccivio, head of the SUPSI PVLab, and Adrianna Righetti, collaborator of the Institute for Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment. The booklet, in English, is available online at the following link.
