L&#8217;inclinazione ottimale che permette di sfruttare al massimo l\u2019irraggiamento \u00e8 principalmente una questione di geometria solare: dipende dalla latitudine del luogo. Ma quindi la progettazione solare \u00e8 solo un problema geometrico? Alle nostre latitudini, gli elementi orientati a sud beneficiano del maggior irraggiamento solare. Per questo motivo, per massimizzare l&#8217;energia prodotta durante l&#8217;anno, l&#8217;orientamento dell\u2019impianto dovrebbe allinearsi il pi\u00f9 possibile con il sud. Anche un orientamento verso sud-ovest o sud-est assicura un risultato ragguardevole con perdite non superiori al 10%. Inoltre, i pannelli orientati a est aumentano la produzione di energia al mattino, mentre quelli orientati a ovest fanno lo stesso nel tardo pomeriggio. Da un lato, l\u2019orientamento a nord dei pannelli per meri scopi energetici \u00e8 normalmente da evitare. D&#8217;altra parte, anche l&#8217;orientamento nord-est\/ovest pu\u00f2 contribuire alla produzione di energia. Nel corso dell&#8217;anno l&#8217;azimut del sole cambia: in inverno i raggi solari hanno un basso angolo di incidenza, quindi i pannelli hanno bisogno di un&#8217;inclinazione maggiore per catturare quanta pi\u00f9 luce possibile mentre in estate, a causa di un azimut pi\u00f9 alto, il rendimento degli impianti solari \u00e8 molto buono anche se posizionati con una bassa inclinazione.<\/p>\n<p>I pannelli solari installati verticalmente producono meno energia alle latitudini dell&#8217;Europa centrale. Per gli impianti BIPV montati verticalmente sulla facciata, il rendimento \u00e8 di circa il 70% se rivolti a sud, mentre scender\u00e0 al 50% se rivolti a est o a ovest. Tuttavia, non tutti i tetti e le facciate sono caratterizzati da un orientamento ottimale per la produzione energetica e inoltre questo non \u00e8 l&#8217;obiettivo della produzione decentralizzata nell&#8217;ambiente costruito. La risposta alle due domande precedenti \u00e8 che \u00e8 energeticamente ed economicamente conveniente installare impianti solari su elementi costruttivi diversamente orientati (ad es. facciate o tetti piani con orientamento ovest-est) con lo scopo di aumentare i benefici dell&#8217;autoconsumo aumentando la quota fra produzione energetica e il profilo di carico.
