IPV-Conference – Integrating PV Technologies in the Built Environment and Landscape

The IPV-Conference is an international event dedicated to the integration of photovoltaics in the built environment and landscape. It brings together experts, designers, and researchers to share visions and innovations on how solar energy can become an integral part of architectural and urban design, merging technology, culture, and beauty.

Within this framework, the session “Solar Architecture as a Way of Thinking – BIPV as Material, Process, and Responsibility”, curated by Pierluigi Bonomo (SUPSI) and organized under the EU project SEAMLESS-PV, features the participation of the Politecnico di Milano, the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) and ARUP.

Through the exemplary case of the Campus Bovisa-Goccia and an open dialogue among the main contributors, the session invites participants to look at photovoltaics not only as a technology but also as an architectural material, a design process, and a cultural responsibility. The conversation between RPBW, ARUP, and the Politecnico di Milano will offer a shared reflection on the role of photovoltaic systems as part of a civic mission, an expression of design beauty, and a key component of an integrated design process that combines innovation and environmental responsibility.

Led by Pierluigi Bonomo (SUPSI), the session features Elisabetta Trezzani (RPBW), Paolo Cresci (ARUP), and Mario Motta (Politecnico di Milano), with a special contribution from Heinz Ossebrick (ETA Florence).
