This Advanced Training introduces the main challenges on the process of designing solar buildings: from concept to design and construction challenges. This course is developed by SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland) within the European project INPERSO).
In recent years, a new energy strategy has created the opportunity to consider solar as a renewable source of decentralised production in the facades and other accessory elements of the envelope active. The construction of building with integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) poses hybrid challenges between the construction and electrotechnical sectors, which are still often fragmented in their respective disciplinary and professional fields.
This intensive ONE-DAY course provides a deep dive into Solar-Integrated Architecture, combining theoretical foundations with real-world applications. The program covers Solar Technology Fundamentals, Architectural Integration, Simulation&Modelling, Quality and Product Certifications and Cost-effectiveness, equipping you with both technical knowledge and practical insights.
The day includes an experiential tour of case study buildings at Artery Business Centre by Studio Libeskind, allowing you to witness solar architecture in action and engage directly with architects, constructors and other project stakeholders.
For those looking to deepen their experience, an optional DAY 2 offers an exclusive visit to a factory visit: Metsolar. Here, you’ll explore the company’s mission, products and production processes and work on a project with expert follow-up, solidifying your experiential knowledge.
Throughout the course, you’ll establish a network with industry experts and peers, creating valuable connections that extend beyond the program. This network will support your ongoing participation in events, conferences and contests in the Solar Architecture sector, ensuring continued professional growth and access to future opportunities.
